Ever since she figured out Nicole was expecting Hailee has been anxious to meet her baby brother. On the way to Nicole's ten week check-up Hailee asked her, "Now do we get to get the baby out Mom?"
The wait is finally over. Little James was born on Wednesday night at 9:59 pm. After testing his mother's patience with 10 hours of pitocin and little progress, James decided it was time. Apparently he wasn't interested in a drawn out delivery. After a few pushes his vitals signs abruptly dropped off the charts. This prompted our OB to break out the vacuum and with a final push he was out.
I figured he was in some sort of trouble but I was not expecting to see
For having had such a rough entrance he's been quite pleasant. He grumbles when he's hungry or when the nurses unwrap him for check-ups but isn't much for crying. We're holding out hope that he'll be as mellow as Hailee was as an infant.
In the meantime, Hailee has become quite the child care expert. She has informed us the she knows "absolutely everything about babies." As much as she may enjoy it I don't think we'll be leaving her to babysit any time soon.
For now she'll have to settle for holding the baby and exhausting her Aunt Ruthann who has been sweet enough to spend the last couple of days with her.
